Electronics in optics or electro-optics is called optoelectronics or optronics. The devices in electronics help optical systems to source, control and detect light. These devices are electronic transducers which are needed for the operation of the optical system. Without these transducers the optical systems can’t function.
Electronic components can be active or passive. Active electronic device supply energy by itself and is a source of energy. Passive electronic device doesn’t produce energy as a source but can increase electric current.
